A Goodbye to Miss Brown
Many of the students today told me that they have been working on crafts at home in their own time to pay tribute to our beloved Miss B who, as of tomorrow, will have passed her first year of teachers’ college with flying colours. It is her last day with us tomorrow. This is a simple and gentle reminder to please remind your child to put their token of kindness in their backpack tonight or tomorrow morning. We are all going to miss this gem that was placed in Room 216. We will be having a “Fun Friday” tomorrow, after our double Math block in the morning, as a way to celebrate her fabulous time with us!

Talent Show Update …
A note regarding the talent show from Ms. Stephens :
Auditions for the talent show will be submitted as a video this year!
Music Monday and Our Contribution!
We had the honor of having D. D. Jackson, who is an accomplished Juno and Emmy Award-winning jazz pianist, composer, producer, and music university professor, join us virtually from New York yesterday and tell the students of WEJ about his career. (D.D. attended WEJ from JK-Grade 8 and graduated from Earl of March HS). He also showcased his music performance and his amazing work creating children’s music. He also took questions from the WEJ students. I have also included our class’s contribution to the Music Monday virtual assembly – Blinding Lights! My students did a great job of singing and dancing in the video – Miss. Brown and I are SO proud of them!
Be sure to turn up your volume – it is so good!
***Please note the video was too large to be supported by this media platform so I just uploaded it to our Google Classroom. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Upcoming Health Quiz
Happy Tuesday, Parents!
This week the Grade 3’s will be wrapping up their “Substance Use, Addictions, and Related Behaviours” Health Unit with a quiz! The students will take the short test this Friday, May 6th, 2022!
We have been making our way through their Substance Use, Addictions, and Related Behaviours booklet (kept in their blue health duotangs), and it is now the perfect study tool to help them get ready to succeed on Friday!
Throughout the unit, we’ve explored the impact of using legal/illegal substances. We’ve also explored how to make responsible decisions with these substances, including saying no when faced with peer pressure and being aware of the risks and dangers associated with these substances.
I’m positive that the Grade 3’s will do excellent on this quiz if they can confidently go through their booklet, recognize how the different substances impact our bodies and realize the importance of smart and responsible decisions in keeping ourselves safe and healthy!
