March Already!!!

Good evening parents and guardians,

February has literally flown by. Please enjoy some photos below of some magical moments in room 216!

We have a busy week ahead! Tomorrow we are participating in a virtual field trip to Wheelers Pancake House to learn how to tap trees the way the Pioneers we are studying did way-back-when.  After that, we will work together to “churn”/ make butter, that will sit in the refrigerator over night Monday and we will enjoy our hard work on plain saltine crackers on Tuesday morning.

We are starting fractions in Math and continuing on with multiplication, specifically looking at how we can draw arrays to illustrate our understanding of a multiplication problem. More Knowledgehook missions have been assigned to help supplement this curriculum strand.

In Language Arts, we are working on our Author’s Study of Robert Munsch. Students have all chosen their books for their major Story Telling presentation happening the week we come back from March Break. All students have been given their presentation date. Students should be practicing every chance they have a spare moment and should slowly be thinking about props and costume ideas this week. The red folder should be coming to and from school nightly the same way the agenda does. Asking to go to Peer Tutoring for extra practice is also an option on Monday’s and Thursdays if students have busy schedules after school.

For your consideration …

●  With the warmer weather there will be muddy areas on the schoolyard. Proper footwear for outdoors and a pair of indoor shoes is needed. Feel free to have extra socks and pants in your child’s back pack. Hopefully we have a quick spring and our yard dries up quickly!

●  The upcoming holiday break is fast approaching and Friday March 8th is the last day of school. The holiday break is from Monday March 11th to Friday March 15th during this time there is NO SCHOOL. Some parents have already written to be indicating that their child will be leaving mid week for travel/trip/vacation purposes, I am appreciative of the open lines of communication and this helps with lesson planning and organization.

Thanks to everyone who donated to TOONIE Tuesday, we will listen carefully to the announcements this week to see what WEJ’s grand total was.

Have a fabulous week and thank you for all that you do for your children, they are such a lovely, fun, hardworking bunch!
