A few weeks ago, the students had a chance to learn all about Soil from our Scientists in Schools workshop. We have also had several lessons in class on soil since then. Students will be having a mini quiz on this content on Thursday of this week! We will be spending some time in class between now and then preparing for this very short quiz. Here is what the students should know:
1. What are the 4 things soil is made up of? – rocks, air, water, humus
2. What are the 4 types of soil? -loam, clay, sand, silt
3. What is composting and how does it work? What can you compost? What can’t you compost?
4. How do earthworms help the soil and help with composting?
5. What is erosion? – When moving water wears and moves soil to new places.
